Our Kitties!

May 3, 2011

On April 7th, our little kitty gave birth six kittens. Here are some photos and a video. I have not taken a lot of photos because I don’t really like using flash on them.

They are no longer in the box. Gosh, they grow so fast!

Kitchen Countertops!

May 2, 2011

This was the day they came.

We were able to put one side in.

But the other side they made a wee bit too long. They had to take it back and fix it.

This was my kitchen the beginning of the day the other morning.

This is later after it was cleaned up a bit.

Yes, there is only one light working under the microwave. We put two new bulbs in and the left one burned out really fast.

Yep…the sink is in place, too.

The dishwasher is stainless steel, but I do not want to take off the blue protective plastic until we are ready to move in. It is not completely anchored, yet. We need to lift if higher.

Heating Air & Water!

May 2, 2011

This is the platform for the heat pump in the laundry room. To the right is the hallway. There is an opening/vent between the base and the hallway.  The kitchen is on the other side of the wall.

Here it is with the inside unit on top. It still needs to go through the ceiling. We have ducts, but no registers. We think we have the plenum.

This is the drip pan for the water heater. Dave had to cut a larger one down. He still needs to seal it.

Our water heater is installed. It sure is nice having hot water to clean things with up there.

The Storm 2!

April 30, 2011

If the pipes were not plugged, the water would have stopped flowing over the top long before this photo was taken.

You can see the roughness…the dips in the crossing…through the water.

The water has gone down a bit and the guys are trying to dig out the pipes. They are using a long plastic pipe to try to dislodge some rocks stuck in the middle, but they really need a metal pipe.

We Interrupt This Home Building for a Storm!

April 29, 2011

We got hit with a major storm. Although I had been following the weather reports and I knew rain was coming, we did not realize it was going to be a major storm. The weather alerts did not come in until the wee hours of the morning. In our home, we take the admonition “L-rd willin’ and the creek don’t rise” very seriously!

We spent about 2 1/2 hours early in the morning out in the thunderstorm trenching the water pouring off the hillside away from the RV. We were concerned that the RV would start sliding again. It was too late to move our van across the creek. We were basically trapped on our property. Later we found out that we fared better than another couple we know. We are grateful.

By the time we were finished trenching and could take photos, the water had already gone down quite a bit. Here are some videos and photos.

This is looking toward our neighbor.

Dave should NOT be standing so high in the water. Normally, the water would be almost to his waist. That is how much rock washed downstream…some of which is also plugging our pipes.

Working On the Bathroom!

April 29, 2011

We are very grateful for a friend coming over to help. He and Elias worked on the bathroom. Don’t you just love the view?

A Birthday Cake!

April 29, 2011

The very first dessert baked in my Beit-Shalom oven was my birthday cake! Normally, it would be chocolate, but all we had was a spice cake mix from the Food Pantry and some chocolate frosting in the can. We had never tried the in-the-can stuff before. It was interesting to work with.

Elias decorated it. It took some getting used to and I think he did a great job! HB for Happy Birthday with my age in between.
