Would Love to Show More Pics…But…

April 19, 2011

We got hit by a major storm last night with another coming tonight. We spent two and a half hours this morning out in the rain and thunder trying to divert torrents of water from the RV and the trench behind it. The meadow was a lake and the driveway a river, but I did not get photos until it after it was down because I was busy trenching.

The water typically goes down quickly once it stops raining. This time, though, we have a problem. All of our pipes on the creek crossing are blocked…not with twigs and branches it seems, but with rocks. The water continues to go over the top. By now, it should only be going through the pipes. What we can see of the top is that it is pretty ravaged…again. The pipes are holding, but the top is undrivable…even if it were not under water.

On top of that, we did not park our van on the roadside of the creek, so we are effectively trapped…AND low on toilet paper! We are good on everything else, though.

We are praying that we can get the crossing crossable again and that we can finally get it slurried with concrete…which would stop the damage from storms like this. It would not stop the rocks from hitting the pipes…but it would stop the top from being damaged. Dave would love to put some kind of low fence further up stream to help stop the rocks from blocking the pipes, but I don’t know how that would work out.

I will get up videos and photos when I can…both of Beit-Shalom and of this storm.

In the meantime, please PRAY!

Man, you’ve really been hit lately. 😦 Praying you are able to get out and get everything set up so this doesn’t happen again.

Thanks, Joelle. Dave did get the van across the creek, but the pipes are still not flowing like they should be and we have major storm warnings for tonight. The guys will be working on the crossing tomorrow after we see what the storm does tonight. The hard part is finding a way to get the rocks out of the pipes. Thank you for your prayers! I hope you guys are all doing OK down there!
