An Unexpected Twist in the Septic Line!

March 18, 2011

When the water was broken by the backhoe, the new water line was spliced into the two broken ends to form a “t”. When they turned on the water, however, they discovered that the pipe that connects to the RV water line had apparently been pulled out.  That resulted in Dave and Elias having to dig out the connection at the RV.

As you can see in this picture, it had indeed been pulled out. The only way to get the pipe connected again was to dig it out enough to pull it through. So, they dug from both ends.

In the process of digging, the end of the septic pipe that we have to hook into was also dug up. Turns out, it is about a foot and a half HIGHER than the end of the house septic. You can see the white current pipe in the picture. The green new one is out of sight. However, it is low in the trench Dave is standing in. If you know anything about septic…the stuff has to flow DOWN…not UP!

Below is the new green pipe. You can see a “t” connection where the water runs from the RV connection to the “t” and then out to the yard hydrant.

I tried to capture the two septic pipe ends in the video to show the difference in height, but I couldn’t really get around the piles of mud to get a good shot.
