Work to be Done & Trusting in Him!

November 6, 2008

Dave has been applying to places for a job. We are confident of God’s provision. He has never let us down. One thing that is comforting is knowing that He often provides just in the nick of time. So, even though Dave does not have another job yet, we are not concerned (translate “worried”). Worry is a lack of faith and trust in the One who is sovereign over all.

I know that there are some who would say that God has not provided much for us. They look at our living situation and think…this is provision? Yes! It IS provision! We could be homeless somewhere, living under an overpass or in our van. We could be going hungry or have no clothes to wear. God is faithful to us. I have never known Him not to be. Dave is following up on possible job leads and leaving the results in God’s hands. There is simply no point in wasting energy on fretting.

We are having unseasonably warm days. This is something we are very grateful for. It seemed like we were jumping from summer to fall, but now we are getting our “fall”. The temperatures are mild and the colors are just breathtaking! There is beauty all around and the guys are able to get some things done outside.

Every year, we seem to be in a race to try and get things done before Winter starts. We typically lose the race overall, however, God gets us through each winter, nonetheless. His provision is not dependent on what we are able to accomplish. We just keep trying to do our best.

I have the windows open while typing this. The air is gently moving through our little RV along with the beautiful music from PBN. I so enjoy listening to Pat and Claudia during Praise Until Dawn. I try to listen during the time when they are live, which is 5 – 7pm for us, but usually I have to listen to the podcasts instead…or to the repeats on the live stream.

The guys are outside doing more work on the creek crossing, getting it ready for concrete. It will be so nice to have that finished and not hanging over our heads! We are supposed to be getting colder weather starting this weekend. He has part of the underside of the RV protected, but not all of it. He has a platform he built previously that he is trying to get leveled off next to the RV. We are hoping to at least get a room built this year. So far, there have always been other things getting in the way, taking precedence. Even now, we have the creek crossing and the laundry room still to be finished. Ah…if we could but become double or triple the people we are now! But then, we would be even more crowded!

I hope that everyone reading this can see the blessings in their lives. There are hard things, for sure, in each one of our lives. Yet, there are also blessings, if we will but look for them!
